
<p>Flights were temporarily suspended on Tuesday at Vancouver International Airport (YVR), one of Canada&#8217;s busiest airports, following reports of a hijacked Cessna 172 light aircraft to the federal police. According to airport authorities, nine inbound flights were diverted to other airports after the hijacking was reported. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) reported receiving information about the hijacking of a small plane in the airspace near the airport at 1:10 PM local time (1:40 AM IST).</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">39-Minute Ground Stop</h2>



<p>Following the hijacking report, a temporary ground stop was implemented for inbound flights to the airport. This ground stop lasted for 39 minutes. During this time, diverted passengers were assisted by Vancouver Airport staff to reach their destinations. Subsequently, police swiftly acted, safely landing the private aircraft and apprehending the lone occupant.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Aircraft Operated by a Flying Club</h2>



<p>The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), Canada&#8217;s public broadcaster, published images of the small, white aircraft surrounded by security vehicles at Vancouver Airport. According to the CBC, the aircraft was operated by a flying club in Victoria, the provincial capital located on Vancouver Island.</p>

<p>A passenger present at the airport during the incident shared a video of the event on their X account. The video shows police vehicles and officers approaching a small plane on the runway.</p>

<p>Heavy rainfall is expected to affect more than 15 states, including Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert regarding this. According to the latest information, heavy rain is expected in eastern and adjoining central India over the next two days. Meanwhile, heavy rainfall is anticipated in Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu over the next 6-7 days.</p>

<p>According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of rain in various parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh until 22 July.</p>



<p>Meanwhile, rain is expected in several districts of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Odisha today. <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Yellow Alert Issued for Telangana</h2>



<p>The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Telangana, indicating the likelihood of light to moderate rainfall in the coming days.</p>



<p>Speaking to the media on Wednesday, a meteorologist stated that currently, indications suggest a monsoon trough persists from northwest Rajasthan to southwest Bihar. Due to its influence, rainfall is likely in Telangana during the next two to three days.</p>



<p>They further stated that a yellow alert has been issued for Telangana, with the possibility of heavy rain in several areas. They added that light to moderate rainfall is expected in many parts of the state over the next two to three days.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Increased Rainfall Activity in Hyderabad</h2>



<p>Specifically for Hyderabad, the meteorologist indicated that rainfall activity is expected to increase from Thursday. They further stated that light drizzle is likely in Hyderabad today, but rainfall activity will increase from tomorrow.</p>

<p>Tremors were felt in Rohtak district, Haryana, on Thursday morning. The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) reported the earthquake&#8217;s magnitude as 3.3 on the Richter scale.</p>



<p>The quake struck at 12:46 AM, originating at a depth of 10 kilometres. While there have been no reports of casualties or property damage so far, authorities are closely monitoring the situation. It is noteworthy that this area has experienced tremors in the past.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Fourth Earthquake in Eight Days</h2>



<p>This is the fourth significant earthquake in Haryana in the last eight days. On 11 July, a 3.7 magnitude earthquake hit Jhajjar district, followed by a more powerful 4.4 magnitude quake in the same region just hours later.</p>



<p>These earthquakes were also widely felt in Delhi-NCR, causing widespread anxiety among residents. Social media and alert apps saw a surge in posts related to the events.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Delhi-NCR Residents Shaken</h2>



<p>Some described the tremor as the National Capital Region&#8217;s &#8216;longest earthquake&#8217;. Seismic records indicate that at least four earthquakes with a magnitude of over 2.5 have occurred within a 40-kilometre radius of Rohtak since 10 July.</p>



<p>Most earthquakes in this region range between 2.0 and 4.5 magnitude. Seismologists warn that these are indicative of increasing tectonic stress.</p>



<p>For instance, the 11 July earthquake likely originated near MDF, suggesting active fault movement. Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and prepared.</p>

<p>An Indigo flight made an emergency landing in Mumbai. The Delhi-Goa flight, scheduled for Wednesday at 8 PM, was diverted to Mumbai Airport. An engine malfunction was reported on the Indigo Airbus A320NEO (VT-IJB). While twin-engine jets can land safely on one engine, the pilot, as a precaution, landed the aircraft safely in Mumbai.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Engine Failure on Board</h2>



<p>According to reports, one of the aircraft&#8217;s engines failed, leading to the decision to divert it to Mumbai. A full emergency was declared at Mumbai Airport. The aircraft landed safely at Mumbai Airport at 9:52 PM. Indigo stated in a press release that a technical malfunction was detected in the engine during the flight. Following procedures, the aircraft was diverted and landed at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai. After necessary checks, the aircraft will be operational again. An alternative aircraft has been arranged for the passengers.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Pilot Sent &#8216;Pan Pan Pan&#8217; Message</h2>



<p>Sources say the pilot sent a ‘Pan Pan Pan’ message to Mumbai ATC due to the engine malfunction. This is an urgent message, not indicating a life-threatening emergency.</p>



<p>Earlier on Sunday, a SpiceJet flight from Pune to Delhi had to be cancelled due to a technical malfunction after reaching the runway for takeoff. Passengers on board claimed the flight departed for its destination after a nine-hour delay due to a technical malfunction.</p>


<p>A Delhi-bound Goa flight made an emergency landing in Mumbai after a technical malfunction was reported in one of its engines. The pilot sent a &#8216;PAN PAN PAN&#8217; distress signal to Air Traffic Control (ATC).</p>

<p><strong>India Leads Internet Data Usage:</strong> India has jumped 93 places in the global ranking of average internet speed over the past two years, reaching 26th position. </p>



<p>However, when it comes to global data usage, India remains the world&#8217;s number one country. According to the Ericsson Mobility Report, India has a monthly per capita data consumption of 32 GB, the highest globally. </p>



<p>In comparison, this figure stands at 29 GB in China and 22 GB in the USA. According to some other sources, in 2024, the average data consumption in India was 24.6 GB per user, significantly higher than the global average of 19 GB.</p>



<p>Ookla&#8217;s internet speed dataset shows that India&#8217;s median download speed was 136.53 Mbps during April-June 2025. This represents a 93-point improvement in India&#8217;s ranking from 119th position in September 2022, when the average internet speed was 13.87 Mbps. The report states that India is rapidly closing the gap in internet speed with other major global markets. The main reason for this is the rapid expansion of 5G coverage in the country.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">China Ahead of the US in Internet Speed</h2>



<p>Compared to other large countries, the USA holds the 13th global ranking with a speed of 176.75 Mbps, while China ranks 8th with 207.98 Mbps. The report mentions that the expansion of the 5G network in India is one of the fastest internet speed expansions in the world.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">5G Towers Account for 57% in India</h2>



<p>According to media reports, 5G towers now constitute 57% of the total telecommunication towers in India. By March 2025, India&#8217;s 5G subscriber base reached 3.26 million, representing 28% of total wireless connections.</p>

<p><strong>BHU UG Admission 2025:</strong> The admission process for undergraduate (UG) courses at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has begun. Admission to BA, BCom, BSc, and other UG courses will be based on the Common University Entrance Test (CUET UG) scores. Including the main campus, the South Campus, the Women&#8217;s College, and affiliated colleges, the total number of courses offered amounts to 1553.</p>

<p>The atmosphere in Rajasthan&#8217;s colleges and universities is heating up with admissions and student union elections. Uncertainty remains about whether elections will be held this time. However, colleges and universities are collecting student union election fees during admissions. Students in Rajasthan&#8217;s 665 government colleges and 13 state universities are being charged student union election fees again this year. If the government doesn&#8217;t make a decision regarding the elections, then, like the previous two sessions, the election fee will be collected but will not be refunded.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Collection of ₹50 to ₹100</h2>



<p>In Rajasthan University and other state universities and colleges, students are charged ₹50 to ₹100 during admission. Based on this, crores of rupees are being collected across Rajasthan in the name of student union elections. This fee is for one session. Similar collections were made in the previous two sessions, but the fee was not returned even though the elections did not take place.</p>

<p>The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, met on Wednesday and approved the Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhanay Krishi Yojana, as announced in the 2025-26 budget.</p>



<p>The scheme primarily aims to enhance agricultural productivity, promote crop diversification, and encourage sustainable agricultural practices. Further objectives include increasing post-harvest storage capacity, improving irrigation facilities, and facilitating better credit availability.</p>



<p>Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, speaking after the weekly Cabinet meeting, stated that the programme will benefit 1.7 crore farmers. With a commencement date of 2025-26, an annual financial outlay of ₹24,000 crore is earmarked for at least six years.</p>



<p>Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had proposed on February 1st that the government, in partnership with states, would launch the ‘Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhanay Krishi Yojana’. This scheme will be implemented in collaboration with 36 existing schemes across 11 departments, other state schemes, and the private sector.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Selection of 100 Districts</h2>



<p>One hundred districts will be identified based on three key indicators: low productivity, low cropping intensity, and low credit disbursement. At least one district will be selected from each state.</p>



<p>District, state, and national-level committees will be formed to monitor the scheme. The District Dhan Dhanaya Committee, which will include farmer members, will finalise the scheme at the district level.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Monitoring the Scheme</h2>



<p>In each Dhan Dhanaya district, the scheme&#8217;s progress will be monitored monthly via a dashboard tracking 177 key performance indicators (KPIs). NITI Aayog will also review and provide guidance on district plans. Furthermore, a designated central nodal officer for each district will regularly review the scheme&#8217;s implementation.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Increased Production Expected</h2>



<p>The scheme is expected to boost crop production, add value to the agriculture and allied sectors, generate local livelihoods, and thus achieve self-reliance. As indicators improve in these 100 districts, national indicators are also projected to rise.</p>

An Mi-8 (Mi-8) helicopter operated by private aviation company APK Vzlet LLC (APK Vzlet LLC) was flying from Okhotsk (Охотск) to Magdan (Магадан) on Monday when it disappeared in the Khabarovsk (Хабаровск) region. <p>There were five people on board the helicopter at the time of the accident: three crew members and two mechanics. All five died in the crash.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Investigation Continues</h2>



<p>An investigation into the incident began immediately after the helicopter went missing. Preliminary reports indicated that the crew failed to make contact at the scheduled time, and the emergency locator beacon did not activate, leading to the helicopter being reported missing. Now that the crash has been confirmed, the Ministry of Emergency Situations&#8217; rescue teams, along with investigators, will examine the crash site and wreckage. They will also search for the flight recorder to determine the cause of the accident.</p>

In addition, 2533 students who wrote mobile numbers in their answer sheets during the examination have been awarded zero marks in the respective subject.</p>

<p>The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has released the admit cards for the Assistant Engineer (AE) recruitment examination 2025.
