<p>The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued a serious warning about the rapidly spreading chikungunya virus. This virus has already been detected in 119 countries, and cases are increasing rapidly. According to the WHO, if appropriate measures are not taken in time, this virus could become a major pandemic.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What is the Chikungunya Virus?</h2>



<p>Chikungunya is a mosquito-borne viral disease spread by the bites of <em>Aedes aegypti</em> and <em>Aedes albopictus</em> mosquitoes. These mosquitoes are also known to spread dengue and Zika viruses. The main symptoms of this disease include high fever, unbearable joint pain, muscle pain, headache, fatigue, and skin rashes. In some cases, it can also be fatal, especially for people with weakened immunity.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Where is the Greatest Risk?</h2>



<p>According to the WHO report, cases of chikungunya are increasing rapidly in areas such as Réunion Island, Mayotte, and Mauritius. An estimated one-third of the population in Réunion Island has been affected by this virus. Due to global warming, the tiger mosquito (<em>Aedes albopictus</em>) is now reaching northern regions, causing the virus to spread to new areas.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Why is it a Concern?</h2>



<p>WHO experts say that the symptoms of chikungunya are similar to other viruses like dengue and Zika, making diagnosis challenging. Furthermore, in areas with low immunity, this virus can rapidly affect up to three-quarters of the population. Currently, there is no specific vaccine or cure for this virus, making prevention the only recourse.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Situation in India</h2>



<p>Large-scale cases of chikungunya have not yet emerged in India, but the Ministry of Health has instructed states to remain vigilant and increase surveillance. Particular caution has been advised in areas with a high mosquito infestation.</p>

<p>A tragic accident occurred on the Shivpuri Link Road involving a group of Kanwariyas returning from Bhadavna (Utila). A speeding car&#8217;s tyre burst, causing the vehicle to veer off the road, mowing down the Kanwariyas and overturning into a ditch. Four Kanwariyas died, and two sustained injuries. The incident took place at around 12:45 AM on Wednesday. Enraged Kanwariyas protested on the road following the accident. Police arrived at the scene and admitted the injured to the hospital.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Car Overturns, Crushing Group of Kanwariyas</h2>



<p>Prahalad Banjara, a resident of Simariya Tankha Ghatigaon, stated that 13 people from his village had gone to Bhadavna to collect holy water. In the evening, the group, carrying their Kanwars (Car Crushed Kanwariyas), was returning via the Sheetla Mata Temple route, singing and celebrating. Upon reaching Shivpuri Link Road, a car (AP-09 WD 0226) suffered a tyre burst, veering off course and crushing the Kanwariyas before overturning into a ditch. The occupants of the car fled the scene. Baba Gusain (55) and Prahalad (33) sustained serious injuries, while Vakil, Ramesh, Dinesh, and Chhotu died at the scene.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Accident in the Blink of an Eye</h2>



<p>Prahalad Banjara recounted that everyone was walking in a line. They were just a short distance from the village, hoping to reach home by morning and offer their Kanwars to Lord Shiva. Suddenly, a loud bang was heard, and before anyone could understand what happened, the car was seen tumbling, crushing the group of Kanwariyas. Screams and cries erupted from the once joyous group. Fellow pilgrims lay bleeding on the road.</p>



<p>Negligence was observed at the trauma centre. When the injured Kanwariyas were brought there, a shortage of stretchers led to further commotion. Kanwariyas shouted for stretchers. News of the accident caused chaos in Simariya Tankha village. Relatives rushed to the hospital. Police have kept the bodies of the deceased at the post-mortem house.</p>

<p>The Donald Trump administration in the United States is planning to replace the existing lottery system for issuing H-1B visas with a new merit-based selection system. <p>Indians are the largest beneficiaries of H-1B visas. In the fiscal year ending September 2023, 58% of the 68,825 initial employment visas and 79% of the remaining 210,000 visas (including extensions) were allocated to Indians. Compared to this, China received 16,094 and 29,250 visas, respectively. Thus, the change in the visa system will have a significant impact on Indian professionals. The new system&#8217;s prioritisation of higher-paid and experienced applicants may limit opportunities for freshers and those working for smaller companies.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Prioritising Skilled Professionals</h2>



<p>The proposed merit-based system aims to prioritise highly skilled and higher-salaried professionals, but this could create challenges for less experienced applicants and smaller companies. NCR:10 High-Rise Societies Face Demolition


<p>Bulldozer Action: The central government has accelerated its zero-tolerance policy against illegal constructions in the National Capital Region (NCR). As a result, preparations are underway for bulldozer action against approximately 10 societies built illegally. If bulldozers are deployed against these societies, thousands of people could become homeless. These societies are located in four sectors developed by the Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) in Faridabad.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Fear of Thousands of Families Becoming Homeless in Faridabad</h2>



<p>The Forest Department in Faridabad district, Haryana, bordering Delhi, is once again preparing to demolish illegal constructions in the Aravalli region. </p>



<p>This time, the plan is to demolish illegally constructed buildings in four major sectors—21C, 44, 45, and 46—under the Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP). </p>



<p>This entire area falls under the Punjab Land Preservation Act (PLPA), and the action is being taken in compliance with Supreme Court orders. These four sectors house thousands of families in more than 10 multi-storeyed societies. This action increases the likelihood of them becoming homeless.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Notices to be Issued Soon Against Illegal Constructions</h2>



<p>According to Forest Department officials, illegal constructions have been carried out in Faridabad sectors 21C, 44, 45, and 46, falling under the Punjab Land Preservation Act (PLPA). All these sectors were developed by the Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran. Forest Department officials have indicated that notices will soon be issued to the owners of the identified constructions, instructing them to vacate their properties. In the first phase of a similar action, over 240 constructions were demolished.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Large Housing Societies Also Targeted</h2>



<p>In the second phase of the Forest Department&#8217;s action, constructions in sectors 21C, 44, 45, and 46 are being identified. These areas have eight to ten multi-storeyed residential societies housing thousands of people. Action against these could affect a large number of people. Forest Department sources say that these four sectors contain several large residential societies developed by the Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran. </p>



<p>Additionally, the Surajkund Mela complex, Surajkund Delhi Road, the Gymkhana Club, religious sites, and several educational institutions in this area also fall under the PLPA. The department is identifying all these locations and preparing a list.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Alternative Land Requested from HSVP</h2>



<p>Meanwhile, efforts are underway to save the homes of the people living in these societies. To this end, the Forest Department has requested alternative land from the HSVP (Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran) to accommodate these constructions. If the HSVP provides alternative land as requested, the demolition action may be postponed. Officials have indicated a willingness to grant exemptions in residential areas if land is provided; otherwise, bulldozers will be deployed.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Action Based on Supreme Court Orders</h2>



<p>It is noteworthy that the Supreme Court, taking a strict stance against encroachments and illegal constructions in the Aravalli region, has directed all concerned agencies to take action. The first phase of the action was carried out in compliance with this order, and preparations are now underway for a major step in the second phase. Previously, large-scale illegal constructions in the Aravalli region have been demolished.</p>

<p><strong>Jaipur:</strong> The state government is preparing to hold elections for Panchayati Raj institutions and urban bodies simultaneously in December this year. A ministerial subcommittee is preparing a report on the restructuring of these institutions for this purpose.</p>



<p>The report on restructuring, prepared by the ministerial subcommittee, will be submitted to Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma within the next 15-20 days. Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Avinash Gehlot gave this information after a subcommittee meeting on Tuesday.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Discussion on Objections and Suggestions</h2>



<p>He informed that the meeting discussed proposals, objections, and suggestions received from districts regarding the restructuring of Panchayats and Zila Parishads. Proposals related to the formation of new Panchayats and Panchayat Samitis are currently being finalised. After submitting the report to the Chief Minister, the final decision will be taken at his level.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Tenure Ending This Year</h2>



<p>It is noteworthy that the tenure of Panchayati Raj institutions and urban bodies in the state is ending at the end of this year. Therefore, the government is seriously considering holding both elections simultaneously.</p>



<p>If this process is completed, it will facilitate coordinated administration and election conduct, reducing expenses. The government is trying to complete the restructuring process on time and submit the necessary information to the Election Commission so that the elections can be held on time.</p>

Rajasthan Panchayat and Urban Body Elections Could Be Held Simultaneously in

<p>RPSC Exam Date Calendar: According to the Rajasthan Public Service Commission&#8217;s recruitment calendar, 139 examinations will be held between August and December. 20 recruitment examinations have already been conducted between January and the first half of July. Three examinations will be held at the end of July.</p>



<p>In December, the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) released a recruitment calendar for 162 examinations. This included examinations from January to December. According to the calendar, 20 examinations were conducted from January to the first half of July. Now, on 29 July, the Assistant Fishery Development Officer examination and the Group Instructor-Surveyor-Apprenticeship examination will be held, along with the Vice Principal-Superintendent ITI examination from 30 July to 1 August.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Exam Dates Released for 5 Recruitments</h2>



<p>The Rajasthan Public Service Commission has released the examination dates for five different recruitments. Secretary Ramniwas Mehta stated that these recruitment examinations are proposed to be held from April to July 2026. These include:</p>



<p>Sub Inspector/Platoon Commander (1015 posts) examination &#8211; 5 April</p>



<p>Veterinary Officer (1100 posts), Assistant Agriculture Engineer (281 posts) &#8211; 19 April</p>



<p>Professor and Coach (3225 posts) &#8211; 31 May to 16 June</p>



<p>Senior Lecturer (6500 posts) &#8211; 12 to 18 July</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Three Recruitment Exams on 29 and 30 July</h2>



<p>The Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC), Ajmer, is going to conduct three important recruitment examinations on 29 and 30 July 2025. These examinations are scheduled according to the commission&#8217;s pre-determined examination calendar. According to the information released by the commission, candidates will be able to download their admit cards from the official website three days before the examination. Two examinations will be held on 29 July—the first examination will be for the post of Assistant Fisheries Development Officer from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Following this, from 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM, the Group Instructor, Surveyor, and Assistant Apprenticeship Advisor Grade-II examination will be held. On 30 July, the examination related to the posts of Vice Principal and Superintendent ITI will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM.</p>

<p>Tensions between India and Pakistan have significantly escalated since the Pahalgam terrorist attack and ‘Operation Sindoor’, and the situation remains volatile. While both countries are adhering to the ceasefire, a tense atmosphere persists. Meanwhile, India has made a significant decision. Furthermore, the Pakistani Air Force and air defence systems were unable to counter India&#8217;s air force and air strikes. <p>News of the Indian air exercise has caused consternation in Pakistan. Fearing an escalation, the Pakistan Air Force has been put on high alert. A formal notice has been issued to the Pakistani Air Force.</p>

<p>India&#8217;s ‘Operation Sindoor’ was a complete success, achieving its objectives within Pakistan. The air exercise from 23-25 July will be India&#8217;s first since ‘Operation Sindoor’.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Which fighter jets will participate in the air exercise?</h2>



<p>During the three-day air exercise, the Indian Air Force may utilise Rafale, Sukhoi-30, Tejas, MiG-29, Jaguar, and Mirage-2000 fighter jets. Testing of Apache helicopters, the S-400 air defence system, and other air weaponry may also occur.</p>

<p>Airlines are capitalising on the Raksha Bandhan festival, causing a surge in airfares around Raksha Bandhan 2025. Khatu Shyam temple: No darshan of Baba Shyam for 2 days, temple administration shares reason


<p><strong>Sikar:</strong> The Khatushyam Temple, a symbol of faith and devotion, is currently undertaking its traditional <em>tilak shringar</em> ceremony. Therefore, the temple doors will be temporarily closed from 10 pm on 25 July after the <em>shayan aarti</em> (bedtime prayer) and will reopen at 5 pm on 26 July with the <em>sandhya aarti</em> (evening prayer). During this time, general devotees will not be permitted to have <em>darshan</em> (view of the deity).</p>



<p>The Shri Shyam Mandir Committee has clarified that this is a regular religious process, undertaken annually, where Baba Shyam is bathed with five sacred liquids (<em>panchadravya</em>) and adorned with special decorations. This entire ritual takes approximately 8 to 12 hours. The committee has appealed to devotees to plan their visits accordingly, keeping the duration of the <em>tilak shringar</em> in mind.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Committee Minister&#8217;s Statement</h2>



<p>Committee minister Manvendra Singh Chouhan, while providing information, stated that this decision has been taken to uphold tradition and the method of worship. The advance notice is being given to avoid any confusion. He added that the few hours of wait, undertaken with the same faith that Baba Shyam&#8217;s devotees show when visiting, further strengthens their relationship with the deity.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Baba Shyam: A Symbol of Faith, Sacrifice, and Belief</h2>



<p>Baba Shyam is worshipped as the &#8216;support of the helpless&#8217; and the deity of the Kali Yuga. His glory is associated with the Mahabharata era, when Barbarik, the grandson of Bhima, offered his head to Lord Krishna before participating in the war. Pleased by this great sacrifice, Lord Krishna blessed him that in the Kali Yuga, he would be worshipped as Shyam and would be a support in every difficulty faced by his devotees.</p>



<p>Even today, lakhs of devotees come to Baba Shyam&#8217;s court with their faith and belief. The temple committee has urged all devotees to respect this tradition and visit the temple for <em>darshan</em> only after the doors have reopened.</p>

<p><strong>Jaipur Vipin Murder Case:</strong> Police apprehended seven assailants, including the main accused, within 15 hours of the stabbing murder of Vipin, also known as Vikki, in Jaipur&#8217;s Paldi Meena kachchi basti. While police were transporting the main accused, Mohammad Anas, he attempted to escape by snatching a police officer&#8217;s pistol on Khoh Nagorian Marg, beyond Jagatpura.</p>



<p>During a scuffle with the police officer, the pistol discharged, injuring Anas in the leg. Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph stated that the history-sheeter Anas, injured by the gunshot, has been admitted to SMS Hospital. Following the incident, police detained 25 individuals, including Anas&#8217;s relatives and acquaintances, to gather information about his hiding places.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Hundreds Gather with Family</h2>



<p>The accused was apprehended in Jaipur on Monday afternoon following a police cordon. Earlier, hundreds of people, along with the victim&#8217;s family, had gathered outside the Paldi Meena police station at 7 am. At 8:30 am, protesters reached the Jaipur-Agra highway, blocking the road with five demands. At 2 pm, police cleared the highway, but the protesters returned to block the road again.</p>

<p>Later in the afternoon, Additional Police Commissioner Dr. Rameshwar Singh arrived with police reinforcements and directed the protesters to an area leading to the Paldi Meena police station, where they remained until evening. MLA Kailash Verma and other leaders and organisation officials arrived at the scene. DCP Tejaswani Gautam stated that Anas and Shadab had carried out the stabbing. Shadab was also injured while attempting to escape. Mohammad Anas, Shadab, Aman, Gulzar, Farman, Bittu, Ilyas, and Rihan have been arrested.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Armed with Sticks and Rods</h2>



<p>The incident occurred approximately 150 meters from the police station, leading to public outrage. Residents claimed that the area was a gathering point for drug users and sellers, and that the police were not taking action. Protesters blocked Agra Road, demanding the victim&#8217;s family&#8217;s safety, a dairy booth, a government job, the arrest of the attackers within 24 hours, and ₹50 lakh in compensation.</p>



<p>Around 9:30 am on Monday, 40-50 protesters, armed with sticks and rods, arrived on Agra Road to shut down open shops, vandalising some. Agra Road&#8217;s market remained closed afterward. The government agreed to four of the family&#8217;s demands. An agreement on appropriate compensation was reached in the evening, ending the protest.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Post Shared 24 Hours Before the Incident</h2>



<p>Police reported that Anas and a young woman shared a social media post showing Anas brandishing a knife. This post was made 24 hours before the incident. In the post, he thanked his sister. The woman, from Nagaur, is being verified.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Vipin Was the Eldest of Three Brothers</h2>



<p>At Vipin&#8217;s home in Paldi Meena, relatives comforted his mother and sister. Family members stated that Vipin was the eldest of three brothers and had five sisters. Anas and his accomplices called Vipin from a short distance from his home, seized him, and began stabbing him.</p>



<p>Hearing his screams, his sister, Machla, ran to the scene, but the attackers had already fled, leaving Vipin severely injured. He succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Vipin&#8217;s post-mortem was conducted on Monday evening after the agreement on the demands. The number of stab wounds will be determined after the post-mortem report.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Dispute Over a Woman a Year Ago</h2>



<p>Police stated that a year prior, Anas and Vipin had a dispute over a woman. Anas has a criminal record and several cases are registered against him. He was arrested based on a complaint filed by Vipin&#8217;s family. Even then, the accused had attempted to escape custody.</p>

<p>He suffered a leg fracture during his escape attempt. Police subsequently paraded him. They also evicted him from a JDA quarter he had occupied in Paldi Meena. He then resided in Shastri Nagar and plotted revenge against Vipin.</p>
