Preliminary investigations suggest that the incident may be linked to an old rivalry, although no concrete clues have been found yet.</p>

<p><strong>PF Withdrawal Rules:</strong> The central government is considering offering more flexibility in withdrawing funds from PF accounts. The Union Ministry of Labour, in collaboration with the EPFO, is preparing to amend the PF withdrawal rules. The government&#8217;s intention is to enable employees to withdraw larger sums from their PF accounts when needed. The government is considering allowing employees to withdraw 60-70% or even the entire amount from their PF account after 10 years of regular service. This would provide employees with greater access to funds in times of need. There is also hope that employees will be allowed to withdraw larger sums three times during their entire service, at intervals of 10 years.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">75 Million Account Holders to Benefit</h2>



<p>The new rules will benefit approximately 75 million members associated with the EPFO, who will be able to withdraw larger sums of money as per their needs. This change will particularly help those who do not wish to wait until the age of 58 and want to retire early. Currently, you can only withdraw your entire PF amount upon retirement at age 58 or after remaining unemployed for two months following job termination. Currently, members are permitted to withdraw funds from their PF account for medical expenses, home purchase, children&#8217;s education, weddings, and other essential purposes; however, these withdrawals are subject to several conditions and limited to a predetermined amount.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">But… Significant Drawbacks</h2>



<p><strong>Reduced Retirement Savings:</strong> If employees withdraw large sums from their PF intermittently, their account balance will naturally be lower upon retirement.</p>



<p><strong>Loss of Interest:</strong> PF is a means of long-term savings that earns good interest. Withdrawing money prematurely reduces the benefits of compound interest. This means your savings will not grow as quickly.</p>



<p><strong>Future Concerns:</strong> The financial security provided by PF for post-retirement may be weakened.</p>

Chhattisgarh: Hotel Cleaner Enters Woman Doctor's Room at Night, She Fights Off Rape Attempt


<p>A case of attempted rape of a female doctor staying at a hotel in the ITI Rampur area of Korba has come to light. The accused fled after the female doctor raised an alarm. The police have apprehended the accused after a cordon and search operation. The accused turned out to be a cleaning staff member of the hotel.</p>



<p>The female doctor, a resident of Sakti, had come to Korba. She was staying at Hotel Top Inn Town, located opposite the SP office. At around 2:30 am on Thursday night, a man entered her room through the window and attempted to rape the female doctor. He threatened her with a knife and tried to stifle her cries. Meanwhile, the woman bit the man&#8217;s thumb and screamed. Following this, the young man fled the room.</p>



<p>The female doctor recounted her ordeal to another female doctor staying in the adjacent room. Late at night, the incident was reported to the police via a call to Dial 112. A police team arrived at the scene, and an investigation was launched. CCTV footage was examined.<br><strong>Accused Apprehended After Cordon and Search</strong></p>



<p>The accused, Raja Khadia (35 years), was apprehended by the police after a cordon and search operation. A case has been registered against him. The Civil Line police arrested the accused and produced him before a Korba court. From there, he was sent to jail on remand. The accused is a father of three children.</p>

<p>The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has launched an initiative to support candidates who narrowly miss final selection in the Civil Services Examination. Under the ‘Public Disclosure Scheme’ (PDS), UPSC has begun sharing information of such candidates – those who cleared the written exam but were not selected in the interview – with private companies. This move is expected to increase the chances of hardworking and qualified candidates finding suitable employment in the private sector.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Millions of Applicants Remain Unsuccessful</h2>



<p>UPSC conducts ten regular examinations annually, selecting approximately 6,400 candidates for various government services. Despite their hard work, millions of candidates fail to make the final cut. Earlier this year, UPSC launched a portal called ‘Pratibha Setu’. The information includes candidates&#8217; names, educational qualifications, and contact numbers. Private companies and other organisations can use the portal to find suitable candidates for their job requirements.</p>



<p>Besides the Civil Services Examination, the portal also includes information on candidates from other UPSC examinations such as Engineering Services, Indian Forest Service, Central Armed Police Forces, Combined Geo-Scientist, and Combined Medical Services examinations. UPSC has ensured that the information is not misused. A UPSC official stated that the information is solely for verifying candidates&#8217; qualifications for employment and cannot be used for any other purpose.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Consent Required for Inclusion in the Scheme</h2>



<p>Candidates must provide their consent to be included in this scheme. The portal is designed to allow companies to search for candidates based on their qualifications and subject specialisation. If a company requires candidates with a master&#8217;s degree in engineering or economics, they can easily find such information on the portal.</p>

<p>Commuters travelling between Delhi and Gurgaon may soon find significant relief from daily traffic jams. The central government has initiated consideration of two new infrastructure projects aimed at reducing the persistent traffic pressure on National Highway-48 (NH-48) and MG Road. One proposal suggests developing a new connector route from Delhi&#8217;s Gyarah Murti or Talkatora Stadium to Gurgaon. The other major proposal involves constructing an elevated corridor or tunnel from AIIMS to the Mahipalpur bypass.</p>



<p>According to a report in the <i>Indian Express</i>, these projects are part of two proposals to alleviate congestion, particularly in Lutyens&#8217; Delhi and central Delhi. Officials stated that the second proposal is for an elevated corridor or tunnel. This will connect the terminus of the Delhi-Meerut Expressway to the proposed elevated corridor from AIIMS to the Mahipalpur bypass. The Delhi government is also working on this project.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Current Travel Time: 1-1.5 Hours for 33 Kilometres</h2>



<p>Officials say that currently, a journey of approximately 33 kilometres between Delhi and Gurgaon takes more than an hour. However, upon completion of these projects, this journey is expected to be reduced to just 25-30 minutes. These projects are also considered a significant step towards reducing traffic pressure in Lutyens&#8217; Delhi and central Delhi.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Proposed Elevated Corridor and Tunnel</h2>



<p>The central government has proposed an approximately 20-kilometre-long elevated corridor from AIIMS to Mahipalpur, which will extend further to the Gurgaon-Faridabad Road. This will serve as a parallel route to NH-48 and help alleviate congestion on the Mehrauli-Gurgaon Road and Ring Road. Currently, the Delhi-Meerut and Delhi-Dehradun Expressways terminate near Sarai Kale Khan, while the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway&#8217;s DND-Sohna link is also about to open.</p>



<p>The traffic from all these expressways could potentially create immense pressure on Lutyens&#8217; Delhi and central Delhi in the future. Keeping this in mind, officials have planned an elevated corridor and a 5-kilometre-long tunnel to connect this part of Delhi to AIIMS, linking the IGI Airport and Dwarka Expressway via Nelson Mandela Marg.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Decisions Made in High-Level Meeting</h2>



<p>These two projects were discussed in a crucial meeting in June involving Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, and other senior officials. The meeting instructed the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to prepare detailed feasibility reports (DPRs) for both projects and invite necessary bids. The meeting agreed that the elevated corridor and tunnel would be implemented as an integrated plan, providing seamless connectivity to various parts of Delhi-NCR.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Working on a Policy to Reduce Congestion</h2>



<p>The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is also working on a new policy aimed at controlling urban congestion. Under this policy, central funding will be provided to reduce traffic pressure on major routes in cities, especially in border areas. The main objectives include reducing travel time, strengthening intercity connectivity, and ensuring sustainable development.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Major Projects for Delhi</h2>



<p>According to officials, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has requested ₹1,500 crore from the Central Road Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) for the redevelopment of the city&#8217;s road infrastructure. Discussions also covered major projects worth over ₹63,000 crore, of which projects worth ₹34,589 crore are under construction and will be completed soon. New projects worth ₹23,850 crore have been proposed to reduce congestion, which are expected to significantly improve traffic and connectivity between Delhi and the NCR.</p>

<p>Fish Venkat&#8217;s condition had worsened to the point that he required regular dialysis and was on ventilator support. His real name was Venkat Raj. He is survived by his wife and three children.</p>

We are answering every call to see if anyone can help us. An unknown person called, claiming to be Prabhas Anna&#8217;s assistant. Later, we found out he was a fraud. We haven&#8217;t received any financial help yet.”</p>

<p>Aspiring participants in the Indian Army&#8217;s recruitment process will now face a more rigorous selection procedure. Passing the physical fitness test is no longer sufficient; Agniveers will also need to demonstrate mental fortitude and stress tolerance. For the first time, the army has made psychological testing mandatory to evaluate candidates&#8217; intellectual level and mental resilience.</p>



<p>These tests have been developed by the Defence Institute of Psychological Research (DIPR), an organisation under the Ministry of Defence. The aim is to assess the stress-coping abilities of army recruits, thereby preventing future stress-related incidents.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">15-Minute Online Psychological Test</h2>



<p>A 15-minute online software test has been designed for this purpose. While trials were conducted last year, the test, after technical improvements, will be implemented from August 2025. This process will begin with the Agniveer recruitment drives in Gwalior, Chambal, and Bundelkhand districts, falling under Madhya Pradesh.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How Will the Test Work?</h2>



<p>After candidates successfully complete the 1600-meter race in the first phase of the recruitment process, they will receive a link on their mobile phones to take the 15-minute psychological test. Candidates who fail this test will be deemed ineligible for further stages.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Previously Only for Officers</h2>



<p>According to army officials, psychological testing was previously only part of the interview process for officers (NDA, CDS, JCO, etc.). However, this is the first time that Agniveers will also be required to pass this test. It is important to note that the test format for Agniveers is different from that used for officers.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Why is this Test Necessary?</h2>



<p>During a media interaction, Colonel Pankaj Kumar, Director of the Gwalior Army Recruitment Office, explained that physical fitness alone is no longer enough to become an Agniveer; mental strength is equally crucial. This is the first time Agniveers will undergo mandatory psychological testing. This will ensure that participants are mentally prepared to handle stressful situations within the army.</p>

<p>Many students in India are unable to fulfil their dream of studying at foreign universities due to high costs. Now, they will be able to do so at a lower cost while remaining in the country. This is becoming possible with the new National Education Policy. Southampton University (UK) inaugurated its first such campus in Gurugram on Wednesday. This is being considered a milestone in India&#8217;s higher education landscape.</p>



<p>Southampton University will offer degrees in computing, law, business, etc. It is expected that 5,500 students will enrol annually. According to the University Grants Commission (UGC), campuses of 15 foreign universities may be established in India by 2027. It is estimated that tuition fees here will be 25-40% lower than at their US campuses.</p>



<p>Under the new UGC regulations, the top 500 global institutions will be allowed to establish fully autonomous campuses in India, with their own admission criteria, fee structure, and degree accreditation. This will provide Indians with world-class education at a lower cost. It is estimated that an Indian student going abroad spends an average of $60,000 on education.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Universities Coming to India</h2>



<p>1- Illinois Institute of Technology (USA) will open its campus in Mumbai by 2026, offering STEM and business programs. This will be the first US university to do so.<br>2- Liverpool University, Aberdeen, and York (UK), and the University of Western Australia have received letters of intent to open their campuses by the end of 2026.<br>3- Istituto Europeo di Design (Italy) is opening its campus in Mumbai, offering degrees in fashion, product, and visual design at 25-30% less cost than its European campuses.<br></p>

The university stated that some individuals are receiving messages promising admission outside the established process, suggesting admissions beyond the regular procedure.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">No Information Shared via WhatsApp &#8211; BHU</h2>



<p>BHU clarified that it does not share any admission-related information through WhatsApp or similar platforms. Many candidates are receiving messages containing misleading links, urging them to click. The university warned that these could be fraudulent attempts and advised recipients to disregard such messages.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">BHU Admission Process Commences</h2>



<p>Meanwhile, the admission process for undergraduate courses in BHU for the 2025 session has begun. Students who passed CUET UG 2025 can apply through the official BHU website, <a href="https://bhu.ac.in" target="_blank" rel="noopener">bhu.ac.in</a>, or <a href="https://bhucuet.samarth.edu.in" target="_blank" rel="noopener">bhucuet.samarth.edu.in</a>, until 31 July 2025. The university also specified that official admission-related information is only sent from these email addresses: (admission.help@bhu.ac.in), (admission@bhu.ac.in).</p>



<p>These emails are sent only to candidates who provided their email IDs during the application process. Further updates are also available on the BHU student portal. BHU reiterated that it does not share information through WhatsApp or any unofficial channels.
